Designing with Green

Following our blog on our favourite whites, I thought I would share some of our favourite greens as we have discovered this is by far our most used ‘colour’ in our residential schemes and also it’s quite a favourite with our hospitality team!

As with all paints, it’s good to consider the level of natural light and orientation of the room when selecting your green.

In this snug, we had two large south westerly facing windows so the room had an abundance of natural light. The room was also situated off a large light filled reception room, so we thought it would be nice to create some drama. We painted the walls, ceiling, woodwork and joinery all in Pompeian Ash by Little Greene. We then layered the day bed with different fabrics in the same shade for added texture.

This guest room in Belgravia was very petite and we designed a tented corner bed layering with lots of different greens.  Here we opted for Old White by Farrow and Ball for the walls and a lovely silk wool by Fox Linton for the curtains to compliment the scheme. To see more of this project click here

For this Kensington kitchen, our client wanted a colourful kitchen and more storage for the over spill for her appliances and crockery. We designed this cabinet and selected ‘Ball Green‘ by Farrow and Ball to sit behind ochre yellow barstools for an extra pop.

Top Tips

  • Consider making your green scheme all green by painting absolutely everything in the same colour – its quite a big decision but will make a room feel cosy and dramatic.
  • Consider punchy art and gilded frames against darker greens as they will add a lot of drama.
  • Opting for mid/warm-toned greens can work better in rooms with less natural light
