Residential Interior Design London

We were approached by our wonderful client to undertake the full residential interior design of their central London pied-a-terre. With a family home in North London and a separate country house, this apartment was to be the ideal city apartment where our clients could work, hold meetings, entertain and enjoy the fantastic central location.

The property has wonderful period features and high ceilings, however a lot of these had been removed by the previous owners. We started by trying to re-instate a sense of grandeur. We refurbished the plasterwork and cornicing, removed all of the 80’s fireplaces and reinstated double glass ‘Parisian doors’ to the drawing room. The interior design brief was to be contemporary with a neutral palette. We paired design classics with sculptural pieces whilst focusing on layers of neutral textures for a clean, calming colour palette. Our clients, one of whom is a writer, required lots of storage for books therefore, we designed a bespoke bookshelf to house some of their vast collection. The baby grand sits nicely in front to create a cosy corner.

The stunning large windows were perfect to create window seats where you can sit quietly within the tree line away from the hustle and bustle below.
The dining chairs are 1980s antiques by Rud Thysgesen and Johnny Sorensen, with beautiful mahogany frames and wicker detail. Our clients also had very specific seating requirements. One preferring firm and tight upholstered sofas and the other soft and sumptuous.

The master bedroom is lovely and big and we played with the height by adding a low wide headboard. The wall lights are a fun ceramic design by Spark & Bell to add a touch of contrast. The bathroom needed fully replacing. So we turned it into a roomy shower room with a soft marble. We love adding an extra shelf for those daily items.

We painted the study in a rich ochre in shade Paper V 435 by Paint & Paper Library and matched the blinds and timber for a cosy feel.
